◈ 1. Grant of Exclusive Publishing Rights

Upon formal editorial acceptance of a monograph or contributed chapter, the Author(s) or Volume Editor(s) execute the formal Susruta Publishing House Publishing Agreement. Under this covenant, the Author grants the Publisher the exclusive, worldwide right and license to:

  • Produce, typeset, copyedit, and publish the work in digital formats (including reflowable EPUB3, vector Academic PDF, and digital library master files).
  • Register dedicated e-ISBNs through the Raja Rammohun Roy National Agency for ISBN (Ministry of Education, Government of India).
  • Distribute, market, and sell the digital editions across all commercial digital marketplaces (e.g., Amazon Kindle, Google Play Books) and scholarly academic repository aggregators.
  • Sub-license or distribute metadata, abstracts, and citations to international university indexing agencies and discovery services.
Standard Licensing Clause: "The Author hereby grants to Susruta Publishing House the sole and exclusive right to produce, publish, distribute, display, and archive the Work throughout the world in electronic and digital-first editions for the full legal term of copyright."

◈ 2. Author Ownership & Moral Rights

SAPH does not confiscate the fundamental copyright of authors. Unlike legacy commercial print presses, our agreement guarantees that the fundamental intellectual property and moral rights remain vested in the original author(s).

Perpetual Moral Rights The author retains perpetual paternity rights to be identified as the creator of the work across all published editions, translations, and citations.
Educational Classroom Use Authors retain the non-commercial right to reuse their own published chapters, figures, or portions of their text in academic lectures and university coursepacks.

◈ 3. Obligations of the Publisher

Susruta Publishing House covenants and agrees to perform the following core publishing services at its own expense:

  • Peer Review Administration: Supervise independent, double-blind evaluation by domain experts in accordance with COPE standards.
  • Editorial Production: Provide developmental copyediting, structural formatting, and validation of classical Sanskrit terms under IAST diacritical standards.
  • Statutory ISBN Allocation: Obtain and register official e-ISBNs through the Raja Rammohun Roy National Agency for ISBN.
  • Digital Dissemination: Host the Version of Record permanently on the official repository (susrutaayurveda.com) and syndicate metadata across Amazon, Google Books, and library catalogs.

◈ 4. Author Warranties & Indemnification

The Author warrants and guarantees to the Publisher that:

  1. The Author is the sole creator and owner of the work, with full power and authority to enter into this agreement.
  2. The work represents original scholarship, contains no plagiarized material, and has not been published elsewhere in whole or in part.
  3. All statements presented as facts are supported by rigorous research or classical textual citations and contain no defamatory, libelous, or unlawful assertions.
  4. The work does not infringe upon any third-party copyright, trademark, or proprietary right. The Author has secured written permission for any copyrighted figures or extensive quotes.
Indemnification Clause: The Author agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Susruta Publishing House against any legal claims, liabilities, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from any breach of these warranties.

◈ 5. Corrections, Addenda & Future Editions

Once published, the master text constitutes the official Version of Record (VoR).

  • Errata & Corrigenda: Minor typographical or mathematical amendments will be handled via formal linked correction notices in accordance with our Corrections & Retractions policy.
  • Revised Second Editions: If medical advances warrant a substantially revised second edition, the Publisher holds the right of first refusal to publish the revised work under a new e-ISBN.

◈ 6. Electronic Signature & Execution

In accordance with global digital publishing standards and the Indian Information Technology Act, 2000, publishing agreements are executed via secure electronic signatures.

Upon acceptance of your manuscript proposal, our editorial secretariat will transmit the formal personalized agreement via digital signature workflow. Both parties receive countersigned cryptographic PDF copies for permanent institutional records.
