◈ 1. General Manuscript Preparation
All manuscripts submitted to Susruta Publishing House must represent original, unpublished scholarly contributions not under consideration elsewhere. Text should be formatted cleanly in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX (.tex with compiled PDF).
Typography & Layout
Standard 12pt Times New Roman or Georgia. 1.5 line spacing. 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides. Continuous line numbers enabled for review.
File Formats Accepted
Microsoft Word (.docx) preferred for copyediting workflows. LaTeX (.tex) with full source packages for formula-heavy and mathematical volumes.
Language & Spelling:
Manuscripts must be composed in standardized academic English (consistent British or American spelling throughout). Jargon should be minimized, and complex classical Sanskrit technical concepts must be clearly defined upon first mention.
◈ 2. Volume & Chapter Architecture
Whether submitting an authored monograph or a single contributed chapter for an edited compilation, follow this standard sequential structure:
-
Title Page: Precise title, subtitle, full author names, institutional affiliations, city, country, and verified ORCID identifiers. Designate the corresponding author clearly.
-
Abstract: A self-contained, unreferenced summary of 150–250 words outlining the chapter's objective, clinical or theoretical scope, methodology, and primary conclusions.
-
Keywords: 4 to 6 specific, discoverable keywords (e.g., Asthi Sharir, Osteology, Marma Therapy, Ayurvedic Biomechanics).
-
Main Text: Subdivided into logically numbered sections (e.g., 1.0 Introduction, 2.0 Classical Ayurvedic Context, 3.0 Clinical Correlates, 4.0 Discussion, 5.0 Future Directions).
-
Acknowledgments: Formal acknowledgments of grant support, institutional resources, and technical assistance.
-
Author Declarations: Conflict of interest, AI tool disclosure, and ethical approval statements.
-
References: Comprehensive bibliographic citations formatted according to SAPH citation rules.
◈ 3. Classical Sanskrit & IAST Diacritics
As an academic imprint specializing in traditional medicine and holistic sciences, Susruta Publishing House enforces scholarly linguistic accuracy. Whenever classical Ayurvedic terminology is transliterated into the Latin script, the International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration (IAST) standard must be employed.
IAST Transliteration Standard Examples:
• Correct: Śalyatantra, Marma, Asthi Śarīra, Dhātu, Doṣa, Bhaiṣajya Kalpanā.
• Avoid unstandardized phonetic spellings (e.g., writing "Shalyatantra" without diacritics where formal scholarly precision is expected).
When quoting primary verses (Ślokas) from foundational treatises such as the Suśruta Saṃhitā, Caraka Saṃhitā, or Aṣṭāṅga Hṛdaya:
- Provide the original verse in standard Unicode Devanagari script.
- Follow immediately with the precise IAST romanized transliteration.
- Include a faithful, contextual English translation.
- Provide exact classical citation locus (e.g., Su. Śā. 5/18).
◈ 5. Referencing & Citation Standards
SAPH supports both APA (7th Edition) (Author-Date) for holistic humanities/historical texts and Vancouver (Numbered) for clinical and biomedical volumes. The chosen style must remain 100% consistent throughout the manuscript.
Mandatory DOIs:
Include active Digital Object Identifier (DOI) URLs (e.g., https://doi.org/10.xxxx/xxxx) for all referenced journal articles, clinical trials, and repository datasets.
Sample APA Style Reference:
Chouhan, P. N. (2025). Ayurveda Osteology: Integrative Insights into Bones, Marma, and Holistic Healing (pp. 45–68). Susruta Academic Publisher.
◈ 6. Mandatory Author Declarations
Every monograph or book chapter must conclude with explicit compliance statements positioned immediately prior to the reference bibliography:
-
Conflict of Interest: Explicitly disclose any commercial affiliations, financial sponsorships, or competing interests. If none exist, state: "The authors declare no competing financial or non-financial interests."
-
Ethical Approval: Clinical studies involving human participants or retrospective patient data must cite the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) approval number.
-
AI & LLM Disclosure: If generative AI tools were utilized during structural drafting or language refinement, disclose tool parameters in accordance with our AI & Authorship Policy.
